Collaboration

The Platform is made for distributed research groups. Since all the tools, data, and compute power live in the cloud or your organization’s data center, you can work with your team, wherever you are.

Collaborate securely by specifying team members’ level of access, including read, write, and execution privileges. Focus discussions around significant genomic regions using the Platform’s commenting system. These resources are all backed up by engineering and research support and a growing, global user community.

Security and Compliance

Seven Bridges takes the security of your data and results as seriously as you do. Every aspect of our Platform has been designed for work with confidential patient information and complies with all standards governing health records.

Infrastructure

The Platform can operate in a virtual private cloud, a local high performance computing environment, or a hybrid of the two.

The Seven Bridges Platform is the only major biomedical data analysis platform to operate with largest public infrastructure providers— Amazon Web Services, Alibaba, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. This means you can store data on one cloud and bring your tools and research questions to the data.

The Seven Bridges Platform is the enabling technology for the use of hybrid clouds—you can build pipelines and analyze data locally, but engage the cloud when you need more powerful computing resources or when your local infrastructure is overtasked. The Platform remains the same, so you can work in a familiar environment across different infrastructures. Moving tools and pipelines between locations is made easy through the Common Workflow Language we have helped to develop.

Scalability

By elastically scaling the number and types of compute instances – in addition to optimization of pipelines to run in parallel – there are no limits to the number of executions you can run or amount of data you can analyze on the Seven Bridges Platform.

Additionally, elastic scaling also significantly reduces processing time for any given pipeline. For example, the Platform can complete a GATK 2.3 Lite Whole Genome pipeline in approximately five hours – more than twice as fast as a typical execution carried out on a single cloud-based node.

Apps and Workflows

The Seven Bridges Platform hosts a complete library of tools and workflows for bioinformatics. Seven Bridges’ bioinformaticians maintain more than 550 tools and workflows, ensuring that the latest versions are always available.

Visualization

The Platform features a suite of fully customizable visualization tools. It also includes the Seven Bridges interactive genome browser built for collaborative investigations.

Reproducibility

Research and clinical testing depends on scientists’ ability to replicate results. This is why we made all analyses on the Platform reproducible. Every tool, version, parameter, and piece of data used in an analysis is logged automatically and available for review at a click.

This complete record allows you to track which execution produced a particular output file. It also allows anyone – from remote colleagues to journal editors – to verify your results without the need to distribute code or configure execution environments

SDK

The Seven Bridges Platform is fully customizable.

Bring your own software and proprietary tools to the Platform using the Seven Bridges Software Development Kit (SDK). Host your choice of tools and execute them seamlessly alongside other ‘gold-standard’ research tools and pipelines. Use your preferred datasets or sample from the largest library of publicly-available data.

API

The Platform is automatable using the Seven Bridges Application Programming Interface (API) – upload and manage data; configure and initiate pipeline executions; and explore and download the results.

Integrate the Platform with wider systems and workflows, including LIMS, sequencing machines, analysis packages (e.g., R, Java, Jupyter Lab Notebook, and Python),), and diagnostic reporting services for end-to-end data analysis.

Accuracy

Accurate analysis of biological data is the top priority for Seven Bridges and for all of our customers. Every feature of the Platform works together to ensure that your results are error-free. The Platform uses state-of-the-art bioinformatic tools and implements best-practice pipelines. More still, when tradeoffs between accuracy and speed are required, we always ensure the former. Finally, our Research and Development team works continually to improve the most accurate method of detecting variants: Graph Genome references.

Graph Genome

Seven Bridges GRAF™ Suite comprises bioinformatics workflows and tools for secondary analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data, based on a pan-genome graph reference to uncover deeper insights into entire populations.

Seven Bridges’ GRAF is a self-improving system for representing and analyzing genomic information using graphs rather than strings of bases. It allows scientists to heavily compress data – and thus operate at unprecedented scale. It is an extremely accurate way to detect individual genetic variation, and this accuracy improves with every new sequence added to the graph. It also offers complete anonymity for individual genomic sequences.
